Brazing & Soldering Alloys

Soldering and brazing are processes in which a filler metal is used to join and build up metal parts by using temperatures less than the melting temperatures of the base metals. The alloy is usually distributed between the properly fitted surfaces of the joint by capillary attraction.


The making of a joint usually involves all of the following procedures:
1. The metal parts are shaped for proper fit.
2. The joining surfaces are cleaned before being assembled.
3. Flux is applied.
4. The parts are assembled into desired configuration.
5. Heat and alloy are applied.
